I just updated to version 8.3.0 and recently added the following prompt to a sub-component in my project:

<componentSelectionValidationActionList>
    <showStringQuestion>
        <text>You selected to install the Pro™ version. Please enter registration number:
</text>
    <title>Pro™ Registration</title>
    <variable>pro_reg</variable>
    </showStringQuestion>
</componentSelectionValidationActionList>

When run on Windows XP (Wine), and I select the relevant component, installer throws an error dialog (red circle with X), prompts 'can't read "bfQN8B0hIskXg5unLh3t4Nb": no such variable.' with an "OK" button. (note that running several times, "bfQN8B0hIskXg5unLh3t4Nb" never changes")

After clicking "OK" in the error popup, another Warning dialog (orangle triangle with !), prompts: 'MAUI' with an "OK" button. I must un-select the component for the installer to proceed, or cancel.

I re-built the project with 8.2.0. The first error dialog does not appear, but the warning dialog "MAUI" appears and I can not proceed with the component selected.

Note that I just tested the installer on MS Windows XP (not Wine). It has the same Error dialog box as the first error. After clearing, a second Error dialog pops up with the prompt "Unknown error executing action". After clearing, the Warning message with the prompt "MAUI" pops up.
