I know on Windows the installer size can't be over 2GB. Does that apply to Linux too?

The 2GB limitation applies to all platforms. On Windows the issue is related to operating system limits. On Linux the limitation is caused by our underlying libraries and compatibility with older Linux versions.

For large installers, the CD-ROM mode can be used to create an installer larger than 2GB. It can also be used to distribute large installers from other media (such as pendrive). It is documented in CDROM Installers section of InstallBuilder User Guide.

Another solution is to use downloadable components and have the installer download some of the content if user selects them. It is documented in Downloadable components section of InstallBuilder User Guide.
