I would like to pack the destination file of a symlink using:

<distributionFile>
    <origin>/path/to/symlink</origin>
</distributionFile>

However the build process packs the symlink itself instead of the destination file.

How can I pack the destination of the symlink ?

InstallBuilder always packages the symlinks when a distribution file/directory is a symbolic link, it is not possible to use symlinks to point to different files.

If you want to package different file depending on build type, it is possible to create a symlink as parent directory - i.e. for builds/latest/binary have builds/latest a symlink that can point to different directories, but with binary being a file in that directory.
