What operating system are you referring to?

For Windows, the icons are created in ${windows_folder_appdata}/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch/User Pinned/TaskBar and the name is the name of either binary or shortcut it was pinned from - such as for myapp.exe and shortcut called MyApp Launcher the safest way is to delete myapp*.lnk.

For OS X, this may require creating a script that modifies persistent-apps in com.apple.dock using defaults command. This is discussed in more details on OS X forums:

How to remove an application Icon from Dock from Mac OSX Mavericks?

Unfortunately there is no simple command that allows removing an application from taskbar for OS X.

Hi wojciechka,

Thank you so much for your quick response. I am using windows operating system, i want to delete myapp*.link when i uninstall the application. Is there any batch file to run this or is this possible with install builder.

Please excuse typos.

You can use the <deletefile> action - such as:

<deleteFile path="${windows_folder_appdata}/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch/User Pinned/TaskBar/myapp*.lnk" />

This action could be used in <postUninstallationActionList>.
