Hello.

I already have a completely built windows installer, but what I would like to know is how I can set it up so that when the user inputs the CDROM the installer automatically runs.

I need a very basic explanation as I have very limited experience with building/creating installers.

First, MS disabled autorun by default in Vista. Users must enable it, so you cannot rely on the behavior your want.

If the user does opt in, it is just an ini file. Here are about as simple a set of rules as I can find:

This was very helpful thank you, but where specifically does the autorun.inf file belong in the folder system? Should it be in the same location as the installer executable, or does that not matter?

Although I understand this is not a BitRock specific question.

It should be at the volume root. Likely this is next to the installer exe, but I think you could bury the installer exe in a directory and include the path in the ini.
