I would like a very simple cross-platform installer which does the following:

1) Downloads a very large (~5GB) zip (or RAR or whatever works) file from a predetermined website

2) Extracts

3) Moves extracted folder to Program Files / Applications / etc. and sets shortcuts

Is this easy or even doable with BitRock? If so- can the download be resumed at a later date?

InstallBuilder 8 will provide downloadable components feature, which will allow packaging certain parts of installer as optional and will allow downloading those over Internet.

When creating a project, you can simply mark which components should be made downloadable, specify URL at which the files will be available and both the installer binaries and downloadable component archives will be built as part of installer creation. Combined with component selection, this can be used to allow users to select parts of application to download and installer.

You can download InstallBuilder beta from here.

As an alternative, it is possible to write actions that download zip files - this can be done using httpGet action and combined with unzip action that will download a file and unpack it.

Unfortunately, in both cases, there is no support for resuming downloads at the moment.
