I need to run an external program that output on stdout is formatted as JSON. Can JSON be parsed ? If not what kind of format can be parsed by the installer ?

InstallBuilder does not include any built-in action to parse JSON files. You could easily parse, for example, XML files using the <xmlFileGet> action.

In addition, you could use regular expressions to parse other kind of formats but I'm afraid JSON is too complex to be parsed using regular expressions.
