Environment: 1.Platform (both dev and target machines): SuSE Linux 10 SP3 2.InstallBuilder: BitRock InstallBuilder Multiplatform Professional Version: 8.0.2 (2012-01-24) 3.Project: SilentInstall

we used the <showprogressdialog> and installmode unattended with minimal to pop up a progress dialog when the installer executing a long task, everything has been ok until we upgrade from Multiplatform Professional Version: 7.2.5 to 8.0.2. the progress dialog never show again but the installation is completed at last.

Is there any change in unatteded mode? or how can i make the showProgressDialog pop up when using unattended mode with minimal option?

InstallBuilder versions both 7.x and 8.x do not show a separate dialog for showProgressDialog action unless unattendedmodeui is set to minimalWithDialogs.

We have checked it using the following example:

<postInstallationActionList>
    <showProgressDialog>
        <title>Waiting</title>
        <actionList>
            <wait>
                <ms>5000</ms>
                <progressText>Waiting...</progressText>
            </wait>
        </actionList>
    </showProgressDialog>
</postInstallationActionList>

Please doublecheck that when testing the InstallBuilder 7.x based installer it also has its unattendedmodeui set to minimal? Perhaps you were testing it using minimalWithDialogs and this is the reason for the different behavior?

i want to pop up a showProgressDiag not wanna the installer to interact with the user. but the user guid of installbuilder said, "The allowed values are: • none: No user interaction is required and no output shown. This is the default if no unattended mode UI option is provided. • minimal: No user interaction is required and a progress pop-up is displayed showing the installation progress. • minimalWithDialogs: In addition to the installation progress shown in the minimal mode, pop-ups are also displayed. This mode may require some user interaction, depending on the specific installer logic."

The only interaction with the user will be by providing popups (if you are manually throwing them). What the documentation mean when it refers to progress dialog is the main installation progress popup, displayed while unpacking the files
