In a custom installation page where you ask for a user name and password, is there any way to validate the login information? If there isn't validation for both, the user name and password, can you just validate that the user name exists?

The purpose of this would be to validate the account name, which a Service will be run as, during the installation's custom configuration page. Currently, without this check, we just fail to create the service, and the error does not indicate why.

I could've sworn that I have seen this in the documentation, but I cannot seem to find it.

If you just need that on Windows you could use the <usertest> rule:

I do not know why I completely missed this rule. Thanks!
